PF & ESI Return Filing
ECR and ESI contributions, by the 15th.
Both are due by the 15th of the following month. Late PF deposit carries interest at 12% a year plus damages up to 25%; late ESI carries 12% interest.
The employee-side consequence matters as much as the penalty: contributions that are not deposited do not show in the member passbook, and that surfaces when somebody tries to withdraw or transfer.
We file the ECR, generate and pay the challan, and reconcile the employee-wise credits each month.

Questions
What is the penalty for late PF payment?
Interest at 12% a year under section 7Q, plus damages under section 14B that scale with the delay and reach 25% a year beyond six months. Both are levied on the employer, not the employee.
