Section 8 Company Registration
A not-for-profit company, for charitable objects.
A section 8 company is the corporate form of a not-for-profit. It can hold property and contract in its own name like any company, and it may not distribute profit to its members — everything earned goes back to the objects.
It carries more credibility with institutional donors and CSR funders than a trust or a society, which is usually the reason to choose it, and it needs a licence from the Registrar before it can be incorporated.
Registration under 12A and 80G is what makes donations deductible for the donor, and is generally the point of the exercise. We file both alongside.

Questions
Section 8 company, trust or society?
A section 8 company for institutional and CSR funding, because it files publicly and funders can diligence it. A trust or society is cheaper to form and run but harder to raise institutional money into.
Can a section 8 company pay its directors?
Reasonable remuneration for actual services, yes. What it cannot do is distribute profit or dividend to members — surplus must be applied to the objects.
