Trademark Registration Certificate

Obtain, replace or correct the certificate.

The certificate is issued once a mark clears examination, publication and the opposition period. It is the document a marketplace, a bank or a licensee asks for as proof of the right.

Certificates are now issued electronically, and a delay usually means something is unresolved on the file rather than a postal problem — an unanswered examination point, or an opposition still open.

Where a certificate is lost, or carries an error in the proprietor name or address, a duplicate or a correction is applied for rather than a fresh registration.

What is included

  • File status checked and any pending item cleared
  • Certificate obtained from the registry
  • Duplicate certificate application where lost
  • Correction of errors in the register

What we need from you

  • Application or registration number
  • Proprietor identity and address proof
  • Details of the error, for a correction
  • Power of attorney

Questions

How long after registration is the certificate issued?

Usually within a few weeks of the opposition period closing, and it is issued electronically. A longer wait almost always means something on the file is still open rather than that the certificate is in transit.
