Trademark Renewal
Every ten years, with a six-month grace.
A registration runs ten years from the filing date and renews indefinitely in ten-year terms. The renewal can be filed up to a year before expiry.
There is a six-month grace period after expiry with a surcharge. Past that the mark is removed from the register, and restoration under Form TM-18 is possible for a year but is discretionary rather than automatic.
Letting a mark lapse is the easiest way to lose brand protection you have already paid for.
