APEDA Registration
RCMC for exporters of scheduled agricultural products.
The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority registers exporters of scheduled products — fruit, vegetables, meat, dairy, cereals, processed foods and more. Registration is compulsory before exporting any scheduled product.
The RCMC it issues is valid for five years and is what makes the exporter eligible for APEDA's assistance schemes covering infrastructure, quality development and market promotion.
Exporters of non-scheduled products register with a different council, so confirming your product is on the APEDA schedule is the first step rather than an afterthought.

Questions
Is APEDA registration mandatory?
Yes, for exporting any product on the APEDA schedule. Exporting a scheduled product without it is a contravention, and customs will hold the consignment. Products outside the schedule fall under a different Export Promotion Council.
