PF Registration

Compulsory at twenty employees, voluntary below.

Provident fund registration becomes compulsory the moment an establishment employs twenty or more people, and it applies from that date rather than from when you get round to registering.

The contribution is 12% from the employee and 12% from the employer on basic plus dearness allowance, and it is due by the 15th of the following month.

Voluntary registration below twenty is allowed and is often worth it — employees increasingly expect it.

What is included

  • EPFO registration and establishment code
  • UAN generation for each employee
  • Monthly ECR filing set up
  • Digital signature registration for the employer

What we need from you

  • PAN and incorporation documents of the entity
  • Employee list with salary and joining dates
  • Cancelled cheque
  • Digital signature of the authorised signatory

Questions

When does PF registration become mandatory?

The day the establishment reaches twenty employees, counting contract and temporary staff. Liability runs from that date, not from the date you register, so late registration comes with arrears.
